- Abstract
The article discusses Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), and describes ways teachers can help children learn to deal with stress though inner resilience and self-reflection. The Inner Resilience Program (IRP) is discussed, which is a nonprofit organization founded in 2001 to train teachers how to teach attention skills and emotional control to students. Students' self-awareness, social skills, and decision making skills are mentioned, as well as how school environments can affect students' emotional maturity. The IRP promotes contemplative educational skills, and the article discusses methods for promoting calm emotions in children.
