- Abstract
A film criticism is presented of the 1957 motion picture "Throne of Blood" ("Kumonosu-jō") directed by Japanese director Akira Kurosawa. Topics discussed include the relationship between the film and the play "Macbeth" written by English playwright William Shakespeare, the metaphysics of tragedy as described by German philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, and comparisons between the film and the Greek model of tragedy.
