- Title
Signaling: An oxysterol ligand for Smoothened.
- Authors
Sharpe, Hayley J; de Sauvage, Frederic J
- Abstract
The author discusses the protein mediated effect of oxysterols, an oxidized form of cholesterols on Hedgehog signaling. The author mentions that there are still gaps on how the Hedgehog pathway is activated on binding Hegdehog to Patched and reestablish the potential endogenous ligand for Smoothened (Smo). The author also states the importance of oxysterol concentrations in tissues with active Hedgehog signaling to demonstrate if oxysterols have physiological role in Hedgehog signaling.
