- Title
Chloroplast SRP takes another road.
- Authors
Nussaume, Laurent
- Abstract
The article cites a study that examined the role of signal recognition particle (SRP) in post-translational targeting of membrane proteins occurring in plants. The researcher presented the structures and functions of SRPs in animal, bacteria and plant cells which provide evolutionary properties that maintain cellular functions. Results indicated that the processes that occur within the cell use two pathways and the SRPs in these plants enable modifications in protein synthesis.
