- Abstract
The article details a study which analyzed the accessory glands in the genital tract of female Acheta domesticus L. (Orthoptera: Gryllidae). The accessory gland of the species is characterized by a complex system of tubules with various ramifications. Its epithelium is consists of a cuticular intima at the luminal side, a layer of gland cells, and a basallamina at the outermost side. The endogenic functions of the secretion are discussed, such as acting as lubricant for oviposition.
