- Abstract
Rates of self-employment tend to rise during a recession. It is therefore no surprise that the ongoing economic downturn has been accompanied by an increase in self-employment in Canada. This article provides a timely review of the tax aspects of many practical issues faced by the newly self-employed, together with a summary of recent legislative changes aimed at supporting the growing numbers of self-employed individuals in Canada.
