- Title
Lubricating with loops: Polymer brushes make surfaces lubricious, but carpets of cyclic polymers do the job better!
- Authors
Tysoe, Wilfred T.; Spencer, Nicholas D.
- Abstract
The article offers the insights of the authors on the use of cyclic polymer carpets in lubricating surfaces which is better than polymer brushes. Topics mentioned include the disadvantage of polymer brushes related to interdigitation of polymer chains that causes the increase of friction, the development of cyclic polymer that has loops and nitrocatechol chemical anchor, and the application on high-load condition with low friction.
