Admission Practices in Master of Public Administration Programs: A Nationwide Study.
- Authors
Bowman, James S.
- Abstract
The selection of students for graduate study is a significant concern in the field, yet little is known about admission practices in Master of Public Administration programs. Following a literature review, this study presents the results of a national survey of National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration principal representatives. Four topic areas are analyzed: selection procedures, relative use of entrance criteria, the admissions decision-making process, and key policy issues. The paper concludes with a brief discussion of ways that selection procedures may be enhanced.
