- Abstract
The article presents an examination into the social influence of the fin-de-siècle Gothic horror novel "Trilby," by George Du Maurier and its English stage adaptation by Paul Potter. A brief overview of the story's themes and notable characteristics is given, highlighting its focus on sexual aesthetics. The story's focus on the attractiveness of feet is also addressed. Further commentary is offered regarding the social influence of the story on English fashion after its publication.
