- Abstract
Provides evidence on the theological basis of the argument used by the character Despair in Edmund Spenser's work `The Faerie Queene' and Sathan in William Perkins' work `A Dialogue containing the conflicts between Sathan and the Christian' written in the 16th century. Necessity for the Christian to attribute the source of despair to the devil, instead of God's law.
