- Abstract
The article presents the author's argument on the Tudor play titled "Gentleness and Nobility." The play features a Plowman who debates a Knight and a Merchant. According to the author, the ploughman character perfectly embodies traditions of popular protest and subversive speech. The relation of the play to the shifts in economic production and class relation during the 16th century in England is mentioned.
