- Abstract
The article discusses the use of African themes in plays written by William Shakespeare. The author suggests readers to read and understand Shakespeare's plays in the context of Shakespeare's time, beliefs and dramatic requirements. According to the author, Africa provided Shakespeare a rich cultural stockpile of ideas and images. The author believes that Shakespeare was inspired with the European experience of Africa.
