- Authors
Naylor-Gutierrez, Elizabeth
- Abstract
In this article, the author discusses the Common Core Learning Standards (CCLS). She tells that the emphasis of CCLS on the process of learning aligns with the framework of information fluency skills. She cites the similarities between CCLS and the Information Fluency Continuum (IFC) including its inquiry approach to learn and are process driven. She adds that the CCLS emphasis on informational text in all grades affords librarians an opportunity to demonstrate their nonfiction collection expertise. She believes that school librarians grounded in the implementation of the CCLS can help teachers select complex texts.
