- Abstract
Introduction: prostate specific antigen is a test focused on the diagnosis and follow-up of prostate cancer. Objective: to characterize the relationship between PSA levels and age in male patients. Methods: this is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional observational approach that describes the main frequency characteristics of prostate-specific antigen (PSA). A non-probabilistic or targeted sample was chosen. Sample of 81 male patients in the period of one year (March 2022 to March 2023). Results: it can be said that in spite of presenting symptoms suggestive of prostate damage, a total of 34 patients between 30 and 65 years old and 27 patients older than 65 years old, have ranges <4 ng/ml which would be considered as normal. Conclusions: if there is dependence in the relationship between PSA levels and the age of male patients, the distribution of the data suggests that the older the patient the higher the PSA value.
