- Abstract
The article presents information on the decentralization of industry and its effects on wholesale centers and marketing areas in the United States. A discussion is presented about whether the wholesaling industry should follow the trend of establishing branch facilities located away from a company's central facilities in less concentrated industrial sections of the country. Statistics related to wholesale activity by service and limited function wholesalers in various U.S. cities are presented. The effects of decentralization on populations in rural and metropolitan areas.
