- Abstract
The article explores the literary and theological implications of why the Biblical figure of Moses was denied entrance into the promised land, in the overall context of the deuteronomic history. Topics addressed include the possible connection between the death of Moses and the death of King Josiah, mention of autobiographical statements of Moses himself which are contained in the introductory framework of Deuteronomy, and the significance of the deuteronomistic portrayal of prophets and kings.
