- Authors
Ninh, erin Khuê
- Abstract
A literary criticism of the book "Jasmine," by Bharati Mukherjee is presented. It outlines the character of Jasmine, the heroine, whose path in the U.S. started from being an undocumented transnational migrant worker to domestic servant to caretaker to sex worker, and to mail-order bride. The author shares that the novel serves as a more effective updated racial-sexual-national matrix. After the death of her first love, the author notes that Jasmine entertains multiple marriage proposals.
