- Abstract
The article focuses on two new methods for producing high-performance and lightweight vehicle components developed by a team of researchers from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) Light Metals Flagship of Australia. It states that the technologies improve automobile fuel efficiency and crash safety. According to Barrie Finnin, former general manager for Alloy Technologies with CSIRO Materials Science and Engineering, the methods use magnesium and aluminum alloys to create strong, lightweight parts.
