- Abstract
The article presents information on the 14 key areas known as the 21st Century's Grand Engineering Challenges, identified by the U.S. National Academy of Engineering (NAE), where science and technology can benefit humanity. It says that the general public is invited to vote for the area they think is the most important. For Diran Apelian, 2008 president of TMS, the challenge on clean water is the most critical one.
