- Abstract
The etiologic diagnosis of drug-induced eruptions relies upon several criteria. Attribution of rash to the suspected drug depends on the delay between introduction of the drug and the onset of the exanthema, and on the previously reported allergenicity of the drug. When several drugs have been introduced between 7 to 14 days before the eruption the diagnosis of the drug eruption needs other investigations. Since oral challenge cannot always be performed for ethical reasons patch testing may be a reliable method of determining the causative diagnosis of the eruption.
