- Abstract
Strategic orientation is defined as principles that direct and affect the activities of an organization and develop behaviors aimed to ensure the viability and performance of the organization. Although the concept of strategic orientation was frequently studied in international literature, it has received only limited attention in the Turkish literature. It is important to examine this concept, which is critical for businesses, and its relationship with performance. Within the scope of the literature review, entrepreneurship orientation, market orientation, learning orientation and technological orientation were examined. Firstly, it is aimed to define each strategic orientation clearly and to examine their relations with business performance. In this direction, the literature on the relationship between strategic orientation and business performance has been reviewed and the conceptual frameworks of strategic orientations are presented. Additionally, different relationships between strategic orientations and the effects of these relationships on the performance indicators of businesses were examined in a holistic manner. Also, the mediating mechanisms in the relationship between strategic management and business performance and the conditions under which these relationships differ are explained. As a result of the literature review, the paper contributes to the literature by introducing potential future research topics.
