- Title
Needs and Opportunities for Social Work Leadership in Emergent P-16 Initiatives.
- Authors
Lawson, Hal A.
- Abstract
The article explores the needs and opportunities presented by P-16 initiatives for social workers. It discusses the introduction of such initiatives in 46 states in the U.S. with Georgia pioneering the P-16 system in 1997. These initiatives can be considered as complex interventions which identifies the outcomes that will be achieved and specifies how progress will be achieved. P-16 leaders usually prioritize the so-called STEM disciplines which refer to science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The reason for this is to address the state and national needs for scientists, engineers and mathematicians in the global economy.
