- Abstract
The article discusses the widespread recognition and deployment of technologies in medicine that contribute to the workplace studies tradition. According to the author, social and interactional organization of work in various settings is the main focus of workplace studies. The primary concern of these studies is the development of detailed descriptions of work practice. Ethnomethodology and conversation analysis are the dominant approach in the fields of workplace studies. They draw on methods of data collection associated with ethnography to explore the practical organization of work. Their analytical approaches are aimed at the production of in-depth accounts of locally situated practices and reasoning.
