- Title
Consequences of Ownership or Licensing of the Project Drawings -- If You Pay for It, Do You Own It?
- Authors
Augustine, Mary Jane; Dunn, Christopher S.
- Abstract
The article discusses the architectural works and copyright law in the U.S. dealing with the right of the owner for the copyright of the building design for which the owner paid to architects. The architect retains the right of the design unless the contract with the owner mentions it otherwise. The owners have the implied licenses but are limited to certain circumstances. The four scenarios which the court determines related to the copyright ownership are discussed in the article.
