- Abstract
The article discusses the findings of an Italian Consensus Conference on psychological therapies for anxiety and depression. The conference was organized in response to the success of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) program in England, which demonstrated the effectiveness of psychotherapy in treating common mental disorders. The conference emphasized the importance of delivering evidence-based psychological interventions through a stepped care approach, which involves providing interventions of varying intensity based on the severity of the disorder. The conference also highlighted the need to increase accessibility to psychological therapies within the Italian health system and recommended various measures to achieve this goal.
