- Abstract
The article presents a study that examines patterns of habitat use by forest birds along a 380-kilometer stretch of the Wisconsin River in the U.S. Forest bird communities during the breeding season in 1999 and 2000 at 48 sites divided among six reaches of the 100-year floodplain were surveyed. The study further shows that, for some species, designations such as forest interior or edge are not always portable from one region to another or even over relatively short distances within a region.
