- Abstract
This article discusses the importance of maintaining first permanent molars (FPM) in children and their impact on oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL). The study conducted by Nada Othman Bamashmous et al found that root canal treatment (RCT) of FPM can improve OHRQoL. However, the authors recommend assessing the quality of life in four domains and using a visual analogue scale (VAS) to measure discomfort during treatment. They also emphasize the need to treat and prevent dental caries from an early age to reduce the long-term negative impact on quality of life. Overall, RCTs on FPM can be a successful treatment option for pediatric patients, but further research is needed to compare the results with other dental services and provide guidance and care for maintaining oral health.
