- Abstract
The article presents information about the resignation of German entrepreneur Ernst Brandi from the chair of a compulsory mining organization in Ruhr, Germany during National Socialist rule. Descriptions are given of German regional historiographic research interpreting Brandi's resignation as a sign of increasing distance between the National Socialist German labor party and mining elites. It is also noted that German mining organizations were experiencing a decrease of influence in German economic history, but that they maintained self-government even under National Socialist political pressure.
