- Abstract
This article examines the study "MicroRNA Expression Patterns to Differentiate Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma From Normal Pancreas and Chronic Pancreatitis." The reason for the study was that a good description of the role of microRNAs (miRNAs) in ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas is lacking. The objective of the study was to define the expression pattern of miRNAs in pancreatic cancer and compare it with those of normal pancreas and chronic pancreatitis. The results are given which led to the conclusion reached by the authors that pancreatic cancer may have a distinct miRNA expression pattern that may differentiate it from both the normal pancreas and chronic pancreatitis. These expression patterns may be able to distinguish between long- and short-term survivors although these findings need to be studied.
