- Authors
Massey, Lyle
- Abstract
The article presents a response to the journal's featured series of essays on 17th-century Dutch painting, including conclusions and remarks on essays by Angela Vanhaelen, Celeste Brusati, and Joanna Woodall. The author focuses on the depiction of temporality within Netherlandish art. Summaries are presented for each major theme given in the contributions by the authors, including the lack of time seen in still life painting, the classification of works by Hercules Segers, and the metaphorical aspects of the skeleton as a subject seen in the works of Andreas Versalius.
