- Abstract
The article considers the merits of clozapine as an antipsychotic agent. Information on side effects associated with clozapine is provided, as well as its effect on immune messengers such as cytokines. According to the authors, the superior clinical effect of clozapine can be attributed to its overall immunosuppressive effect. They also point out that altered immunological parameters in schizophrenia can help boost the drug's unique effect in later stages of the disease.
