- Abstract
Carol Donley, a passionate advocate for the field of Literature and Medicine, passed away in April from complications of Covid. She was a cofounder of Hiram College's Center for Literature and Medicine and played a significant role in the Literature and Medicine book series published by Kent State University Press. Donley's influence as a mentor was felt by many, and her contributions to the field included designing and teaching courses that explored topics such as the "Tyranny of the Normal" and the "Perils of the Normal." She also emphasized the importance of including diverse perspectives in the study of healers, such as black Americans and other minority groups, as well as recognizing the contributions of informal caregivers. Donley's work continues to inspire and highlight the need for further research in the Health Humanities field.
