- Abstract
This research analyzes the arguments in favor of evaluating the performance of university teachers through student surveys. The analysis will focus on the theoretical proposals and empirical findings in various universities. Then, the experience of Universidad del Pacífico (Peru) in this matter is exposed. The quantitative research examines the relationship between academic performance and teachers' evaluation scores; while qualitative studies explore students' most valued teachers' practices. Based on this analysis, teacher evaluation surveys are questioned. It is suggested to supplement the evaluation with qualitative information such as the ones obtained from classroom observation and focus groups with students.
