The article presents an abridged version of a lecture which used Department of Archives records to show the history of the Bahamian village of Fox Hill. It is noted that the village was named after an individual named Samuel Fox who owned a piece of property in the Eastern District of New Providence. In 1987 the Department of the Archives stated that several liberated African settlements were established outside the city of Nassau in the 1820s and 1830s.
