- Abstract
The article presents information about the first Melbourne-Palestine Film Festival held in Melbourne, Victoria, from June 16-17, 2007. The films showcased at the festival highlighted Palestinian selfhood, struggle and presence. The idea of the festival was initiated by Sonja Karkar, president of the organization Women for Palestine. Given the Palestinian issue, the Palestinian films had political approaches. The showcased films included "A World Apart Within 15 Minutes" and "Checkmate."
