- Abstract
The article presents a study which examined the influence of the genetic variation of the WNT co-receptor Frizzled homolog 1 (FZD1) on measures of bone health. FZD1 initiates WNT signal transduction which is important in bone formation. Researchers sequenced a region surrounding FZD1 and genotyped all common polymorphisms. They found that the cis-regulatory polymorphism in the FZD1 promoter region may have a functional role in determining bone structural geometry.
