- Abstract
The grossmorphometrical study was conducted on humerus of eleven adult Sahiwal cattle irrespective of sex. These bones were collected from the postmortem site of College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Anjora, Durg. The measurementslike diameter, length, width, circumference of the shaft and depth of fossa were recorded with the help of meter scale thread and Vernier scale. The craniocaudal and lateromedial diameter both were slightly more in proximal extremity than the distal extremity. Ratio of width of medial condyle and lateral condyles of humerus was 2.5: 1. Circumference of shaft of humerus was less in middle part and increased in proximodistal direction. Ratio between depth of shallow radial fossa and deep olecranon fossa was nearly 1:3. The humeral index was 72.48. The present morhometrical data will be one of the important tool for veterolegal case and genetic conservation of elite indigenous Sahiwal breed.
