- Title
Proxies as surrogates for patients in the intensive care unit?
- Authors
Wennberg, E.
- Abstract
The author reflects on proxies who were evaluated by series of questions regarding the quality of service offered to patients in intensive care unit (ICU). The author says that there is no significant difference on the answer gained from patients since only competent, willing, and physically fit are able to comply. The author discusses the factors such as long duration for drug administration and mental agitation which causes delusional memories and post-traumatic stress disorders to patients.
