Loughrey, Anita
- Abstract
The author discussed addressing the rise of obesity in children and young people through a "whole-school approach." Statistics showing a prevalence of overweight children in Great Britain are examined. Aspects of a "whole-school" approach are described including the designation of a member of staff to ensure that relevant policies are put in place throughout the school. Issues involving motivation and self-esteem and the role of school nurses are analyzed.
