- Abstract
The article focuses on the history of pop and rock music and the youth subcultures related to the Prague, Czech Republic, during the 1960s and 1970s. Topics discussed include the underground band called the "Plastic People of the Universe," that was part of a cultural revolutionary movement in Prague; two Plastic People musicians who were convicted in 1977 and were called anticommunist dissidents by the opposition; and underground musicians as critiques of the socialist system.
