- Abstract
This article discusses the potential use of butyrate dietary supplementation as a treatment for plant-food allergies, specifically focusing on the allergen Pru p 3 found in peaches. The study conducted experiments on mice and found that butyrate supplementation promoted a tolerogenic environment by increasing the percentage of tolerogenic dendritic cells and regulatory T cells. These findings suggest that butyrate supplementation may be a promising alternative therapy for food allergies. However, further research is needed to determine the long-term effects and efficacy of butyrate supplementation in promoting tolerance.
