- Title
Playing House: Staging Experiments About Women in Domestic Space.
- Authors
Shanahan, Ann M.
- Abstract
An essay is presented about the author's staging experiments on the use of the theme of women and domestic space in drama. It explores how the relationship between the central female characters and the domestic architecture were portrayed in a workshop of "A Doll's House," by Henrik Ibsen and a full production of "Feju and Her Friends," by Maria Irene Fornes staged in a mansion at Loyola University Chicago in Illinois. The spatial dramaturgy of each play are also analyzed.
