- Abstract
The article presents analysis of the theme of memory seen in the Early Modern English play "Henry IV, part I," by William Shakespeare, highlighting its intertextual connections to the classical Latin rhetorical treatise "Ad Herennium" by Cicero. Topics addressed include a soliloquy by the character of Prince Harry relating to the treatise, explanation of Cicero's instructions regarding the use of imagination and memory, and discussion of the recurring theme of memory in the play.
