The article discusses the popular reception of the book "Religio Medici," by Thomas Browne, particularly noting its treatment in the Presbyterian pamphlet "England and Scotland vnited," by I. H. It comments on the author of the pamphlet's view of Browne as a pilot who could bring Great Britain's heretical government back to religious values and considers the relationship between church and state in 17th century Great Britain. The author notes the debate concerning Browne's personal attitude towards Presbyterianism, as well as addresses the reception of "Religio Medici" in a variety of Christian denominations.
