- Title
Reading Prior to Translating: A Possible Latin Exemplar for Nicholas Love’s Myrrour of the Blessed Lyf of Jesu Christ.
- Authors
Falls, David J.
- Abstract
The article discusses the "Myrrour of the Blessed Lyf of Jesu Christ," which was translated from Latin by Nicholas Love. Evidence in the text that the manuscript, including an "ex libris" mark and a colophon, are examined to create a link between Love's translation and the original Latin text. Critic Julian Luxford's analysis of the Mount Grace "ex libris" is considered. Scholar Michael Sargent and his research into Love's life is considered, particularly the idea that he may have been an ex-Benedictine monk who lived at Crowland Abbey and later moved to Mount Grace.
