The article presents a literary criticism of Oliver Goldsmith's novel "The Vicar of Wakefield," particularly highlighting the citations and references to Nicholas Rowe's tragic play "The Fair Penitent," within the text. The allusions of the main character Horatio are analyzed in relation to the themes of Rowe's play.
