- Abstract
In this article, I shall mention the first Friday prayer performed in Medina in order to emphasize the importance of mustahabb, and the meanings of mustahabb and its synonyms in Islamic law. After that, I tried to explain 20 actions to be followed which are mustahabbs. Briefly, these actions are: ghusl (greater ablution), cleaning with care, applying cream, smelling clean and nice, nawafil or supererogatory prayers, being quiet during the khutbah (Friday Sermon), going to the prayer earlier in order to be busy with reading the Qur'an and dhikr, going to prayer on foot, going to prayer in calm and solemnity, keeping close to the preacher, listening to his words carefully, wearing special clothes for the prayer, researching the true time for prayers, using a miswak (a natural tooth brush made from special leafy wood), following sunnah during the adhan (the call for prayer) and prayer. The Mustahabbs of khutbah are surahs (sections of Quran) that are recited on Friday and during the Friday prayer. I shall not dwell upon the importance of mustahabbs with respect to society, because these may seem to be inconsequential details that may be discovered by everyone with a careful consideration.
