- Abstract
The article presents a study on the growth response of Westiellopsis prolifica Janet, a nitrogen-fixing cyanobacterium, on fertilizer factory effluents. The study conducted a physico-chemical analysis of the effluent, wherein the effluent was highly alkaline, black, and with ammoniacal nitrogen and oil. Results show that the effluent of the nitrogen rich fertilizer factory affect the photosynthetic system by the pigment content degradation of the cells that makes them unable to survive.
