- Abstract
The article highlighted a study on the mitochondrial DNA sequence of the Olivaceous warbler or Hippolais pallida in Somalia. DNA was isolated from toe-pads using standard methods, including proteinase K digestion and one step each of phenol and chlorophorm purification. According to the study, the mitochondrial haplotypes of the Somalia specimens whose DNA was sequenced cannot be accommodated within the group of haplotypes obtained from other round-winged African subspecies of H. pallida. These subspecies are not differentiated in mtDNA and share one common haplotype with a frequency of greater than 75 percent in each of the subspecies. The article also provided physical descriptions of the birds.
