- Abstract
This article discusses the case of a 48-year-old female patient who presented with long-standing patches and plaques on her right upper arm. The patches and plaques had recently grown rapidly and were accompanied by pain. Dermoscopic imaging revealed a honeycomb pigment grid and thick-branched telangiectasia on a reddish-brown background. A skin biopsy confirmed a diagnosis of atrophic pigmented dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP), a rare and often misdiagnosed clinical entity. The article emphasizes the importance of dermoscopy in aiding the diagnosis of DFSP and its uncommon variants. The authors propose unique dermoscopic findings for atrophic pigmented DFSP, which may contribute to the noninvasive diagnosis of this condition.
